Gestonorone is an anti-infective drug that has been used to treat infectious diseases. It blocks the uptake of nomegestrol acetate by liver cells, which can be used for cancer treatment. It can also be used for autoimmune diseases and as a contraceptive agent. Gestonorone prevents the uptake of nomegestrol acetate by liver cells and blocks glucocorticoid receptors in vitro. Gestonorone has been shown to inhibit the growth of certain cancer cells in vivo, but not others. This drug can also be used as a contraceptive agent or for autoimmune diseases.
