Metopterina, noto anche come 4-amino-4-deossì-N10-metilpteroilglutammico, è un analogo del folato e un membro della classe dei composti antifolato. È principalmente riconosciuto per il suo ruolo di inibitore della diidrofolato reduttasi, un enzima critica nella sintesi degli acidi nucleici. Metopterina è caratterizzato dalla sua struttura complessa, che include un anello di pteridina, un gruppo di acido para-amminobenzoico e una catena laterale di acido glutammico.
