Methyl 2-(bromomethyl)benzoate (MBB) is a halogenated aromatic compound that inhibits the activity of DPP-4 and nitric oxide synthase. MBB has been shown to have anticancer potential by inhibiting translation and synthesis of proteins in cancer cells. It also inhibits the growth of MDA-MB-231 breast cancer cells, which is mediated by its interaction with mTORC1. MBB interacts with the sodium hydrogen exchanger in k562 cells, leading to an inhibitory effect on cellular respiration.
