Descrizione:
Carbidopa è un composto farmaceutico utilizzato principalmente nel trattamento del morbo di Parkinson e dei suoi sintomi. Funziona come un inibitore della dopa decarbossilasi, che impedisce la conversione della levodopa in dopamina nei tessuti periferici, aumentando così la disponibilità di levodopa per il cervello, dove può essere convertita in dopamina. Questo meccanismo migliora gli effetti terapeutici della levodopa riducendo al minimo gli effetti collaterali come nausea e vomito. Carbidopa viene spesso somministrato in combinazione con levodopa per migliorare l'efficacia del trattamento. Il composto è caratterizzato dalla sua formula molecolare, che include atomi di carbonio, idrogeno, azoto e ossigeno. Viene tipicamente somministrato per via orale ed è ben assorbito nel tratto gastrointestinale.
