The LC-MS/MS method was developed for the analysis of monocrotaline N-oxide. The method is selective, sensitive, and accurate. It has been shown to be effective in the detection of retrorsine and retronecine esters in rat liver microsomes. Monocrotaline N-oxide has been shown to have skin cancer promoting effects in rats when applied to skin at doses of 400 ppm or greater.
