4-(Trifluoromethyl)mandelic acid (4-TFA) is a metabolite of the drug mandelic acid. It is a thermodynamically stable, stereospecific, and highly polar compound that can be easily purified by column chromatography. 4-TFA has been shown to have analytical methods in common with mandelic acid, including fluorine analysis and regression.
