This is an immuno-suppressive pseudo acid. It is a potent inhibitor of the transcription factor NF-κB and TNF-α, which are proinflammatory cytokines. The compound has been shown to dampen the inflammatory response in keratinocytes by inhibiting caspases and reducing TNF-α levels. This compound also synergistically inhibits NF-κB and TNF-α expression in human keratinocytes.
