Clonidina cloridrato è un farmaco utilizzato principalmente per trattare l'ipertensione e il disturbo da deficit di attenzione e iperattività (ADHD). È un agonista alfa-2 adrenergico, il che significa che agisce stimolando i recettori alfa-2 nel cervello, portando a una diminuzione del flusso simpatico e a una successiva riduzione della frequenza cardiaca e della pressione sanguigna. La sostanza appare come una polvere cristallina bianca o bianco sporco ed è solubile in acqua, rendendola adatta per varie formulazioni, comprese compresse orali e cerotti transdermici. Clonidina cloridrato ha una formula molecolare di C9H9ClN2HCl e un peso molecolare di circa 230,1 g/mol. I suoi effetti farmacologici possono includere anche sedazione e analgesia, motivo per cui a volte viene utilizzato nella gestione dei sintomi di astinenza da oppioidi.
