AVE3085 is a novel drug that inhibits the activity of soluble guanylate cyclase. It has been shown to have a positive effect on cardiac hypertrophy and chronic kidney disease (CKD) by inhibiting the production of reactive oxygen species by pde5 inhibitors and organic nitrates. This drug also has an effect on blood pressure in clinical studies, which may be due to its inhibition of polymerase chain reaction. AVE3085 is currently undergoing phase III clinical trials.
