Decaprenoic acid is a sesquiterpene lactone that has been isolated from the plant Nepeta cataria. It has minimal toxicity and can be used to make other drugs. Decaprenoic acid inhibits the production of prostaglandins by inhibiting the enzyme cyclooxygenase. This compound is also used to produce monoclonal antibodies, which are used to fight cancer cells.
