CAS:N-Desmethylnefopam is a potent and selective inhibitor of the neuronal nicotinic acetylcholine receptor. The compound binds to the alpha7 subunit of the receptor, but does not bind to other nicotinic acetylcholine receptors. In vitro studies have shown that N-Desmethylnefopam blocks calcium channels and prevents neurotransmitter release. It has also been shown to increase dopamine levels in cells, which may be due to its ability to inhibit reuptake of dopamine by neurons. N-Desmethylnefopam has been shown to be a useful research tool for studying protein interactions, activation, and ligand binding at receptors. This drug has high purity, which makes it suitable for use in life sciences research.
