Dexamethasone is a synthetic corticosteroid with anti-inflammatory and immunosuppressive properties. It is often used to treat various ocular conditions, such as macular edema, retinal detachment, and uveitis. Dexamethasone has been shown to inhibit the migration of leukocytes into the vitreous humor of the eye by binding to glucocorticoid receptors in the cells that line blood vessels in the retina.
