CAS:Prodotto controllato2,4-Dinitrophenol stabilised with 30-35% water (2,4-DPN) is a prodrug that is metabolized in vivo to dinitrophenol. 2,4-DPN has been shown to have mitochondrial effects by inhibiting the mitochondrial functions and energy metabolism. This drug has been used as a model system for studying the effects of nitrite ion on neuronal death and as an agent for wastewater treatment. It also has pharmacological activities such as anti-inflammatory and analgesic properties. 2,4-DPN can be synthesized in situ by adding sodium nitrite to a solution of 2,4-dichlorophenol in water. The optimum concentration of sodium nitrite is 16 mM at pH 5.6 and 25°C.
