(-)-Epinefrina, noto anche come adrenalina, è una catecolamina ed è un ormone e neurotrasmettitore chiave nel corpo. È caratterizzato dal suo ruolo nella risposta di "lotta o fuga", dove prepara il corpo per un'azione rapida in situazioni di stress. Chimicamente, è un'ammina con una struttura che include un gruppo catecol (un anello benzenico con due gruppi idrossilici) e una catena laterale di etilamina. Questo composto è solubile in acqua grazie ai suoi gruppi idrossilici polari, che gli consentono di interagire efficacemente con i sistemi biologici.
