CAS:Prodotto controllato5a-Dihydronorethindrone is a synthetic glucocorticoid with anti-inflammatory and anti-allergic effects. It has been shown to inhibit the proliferation of human cancer cells by binding to the progesterone receptor, which is involved in the regulation of cell growth. 5a-Dihydronorethindrone has also been shown to bind to aromatase, an enzyme that converts androgens into estrogens. The synthesis of 5a-dihydronorethindrone begins with cholesterol, which is first esterified with acetate. This product then undergoes side-chain cleavage and hydroxylation at C17 to form 17alpha,20beta-dihydroxy-5a-pregnane. The final step in its synthesis involves reduction of the ketone group at C2 to form 2,5alpha dihydronorethindrone.
