Teriparatide

Descrizione:
Teriparatide è una forma sintetica dell'ormone paratiroideo (PTH) utilizzata principalmente nel trattamento dell'osteoporosi. È caratterizzata dalla sua capacità di stimolare la formazione ossea, rendendola distinta da altri trattamenti per l'osteoporosi che si concentrano principalmente sull'inibizione della riassorbimento osseo. Teriparatide viene somministrato tramite iniezione sottocutanea ed è generalmente prescritto per pazienti ad alto rischio di fratture. La sostanza è composta dai primi 34 aminoacidi della PTH umana, che sono cruciali per la sua attività biologica. Il suo meccanismo d'azione implica il legame ai recettori della PTH sugli osteoblasti, promuovendo la crescita ossea e aumentando l'assorbimento di calcio nell'intestino e nei reni. Teriparatide ha una vita media relativamente breve, richiedendo somministrazione giornaliera per effetti terapeutici ottimali. Gli effetti collaterali comuni possono includere nausea, vertigini e crampi alle gambe.
