Descrizione:
NAD, o dinucleotide di nicotinamide adenina, è una coenzima cruciale presente in tutte le cellule viventi, svolgendo un ruolo vitale nei processi metabolici. Esiste in due forme: ossidata (NAD+) e ridotta (NADH). NAD+ è essenziale per le reazioni redox, facilitando il trasferimento di elettroni nella respirazione cellulare e nella produzione di energia. È coinvolto in vari percorsi biochimici, tra cui la glicolisi, il ciclo dell'acido citrico e la fosforilazione ossidativa. Inoltre, NAD+ funge da substrato per diversi enzimi, comprese le deidrogenasi, ed è importante per la riparazione del DNA e la segnalazione. La sostanza è un dinucleotide composto da due nucleotidi uniti dai loro gruppi fosfato, con un nucleotide contenente una base di adenina e l'altro contenente una base di nicotinamide. NAD è solubile in acqua e ha un peso molecolare relativamente basso. Il suo ruolo nel metabolismo cellulare e nel trasferimento di energia lo rende un componente critico per mantenere la salute e la funzione cellulare.
