NAD, o dinucleotide di nicotinamide adenina, è una coenzima cruciale presente in tutte le cellule viventi, svolgendo un ruolo vitale nei processi metabolici. Esiste in due forme: ossidata (NAD+) e ridotta (NADH). NAD+ è essenziale per le reazioni redox, facilitando il trasferimento di elettroni nella respirazione cellulare e nella produzione di energia. È coinvolto in vari percorsi biochimici, tra cui la glicolisi, il ciclo dell'acido citrico e la fosforilazione ossidativa.
