CAS:Glutaminyl-tRNA synthetase is a cellular protein that catalyzes the attachment of glutamine to tRNA. This enzyme is expressed in horticultural plants and has been shown to increase the growth rate of P. pastoris cells. Glutaminyl-tRNA synthetase may also be used as a potential use for increasing the growth rate of perennial ryegrass, which is an anoxygenic plant. The enzyme has been found to have a disulfide bond and 13C NMR spectroscopy indicates that it has a high level of structural similarity to glutaminyl-tRNA synthetases from other organisms. Glutaminyl-tRNA synthetase also has fluorescence resonance energy transfer (FRET) properties and can be used for studies on protein interactions or protein folding by quenching FRET between two fluorescent proteins.
