3,3′,5,5′-Tetrametilbenzidina (TMB) è un composto organico comunemente usato come substrato cromogenico in saggi immunoenzimatici (ELISA) e in altre applicazioni biochimiche. È caratterizzato dalla sua capacità di subire ossidazione, con conseguente cambiamento di colore che può essere misurato quantitativamente, rendendolo prezioso nella diagnostica di laboratorio. TMB è un derivato della benzidina, con quattro gruppi metilici attaccati agli anelli benzenici, che ne migliora la solubilità e la stabilità. Il composto è tipicamente un solido giallo pallido a incolore a temperatura ambiente ed è solubile in solventi organici e acqua in determinate condizioni. TMB è sensibile alla luce e all'aria, il che può portare a degradazione; pertanto, viene spesso conservato in contenitori scuri e ermetici.
