2,3-Dihydroxy-3-phenylpropanoic acid is a monocarboxylic acid and a benzenes. It has been shown to have antimicrobial properties against bacteria such as Staphylococcus aureus, Proteus vulgaris, and Klebsiella pneumoniae.
