(-)-Fisostigmina, noto anche come eserina, è un inibitore reversibile dell'enzima acetilcolinesterasi, che gioca un ruolo cruciale nella degradazione del neurotrasmettitore acetilcolina. Questo composto è derivato dal fagiolo di Calabar ed è caratterizzato dalla sua capacità di migliorare la trasmissione colinergica, rendendolo significativo nel trattamento di condizioni come il glaucoma e la miastenia gravis.
