CAS:4-Bromobenzoyl chloride is a molecule consisting of a bromine atom and 4 carbons, with a hydroxyl group on the second carbon. It is an acylation reaction product that can be formed from hydrochloric acid and benzoyl chloride, or from primary cells in water vapor. The diphenyl ether and aryl halide react to form 4-bromobenzoyl chloride in the presence of boron nitride. This reaction mechanism may occur in vivo when the mcl-1 protein is inhibited. 4-Bromobenzoyl chloride has been shown to be active against cancer cells in vitro, but not against normal cells, suggesting that it may be used as an anticancer agent. Crystallography studies have shown that 4-bromobenzoyl chloride has intramolecular hydrogen bonds which stabilize its structure.
