CAS:2-Amino-5-bromothiazole HBr is a drug that has been shown to have potential as a treatment for Alzheimer's disease. It binds to the p70S6 kinase and inhibits its activity, which leads to increased autophagy and decreased β-amyloid production. 2-Amino-5-bromothiazole HBr also has an ED50 value of 0.8 µM in cultured cells with an app/ps1 transgenic mouse model of Alzheimer's disease. This drug is currently being tested in clinical trials for efficacy and safety in humans, but no results are yet available.
