It is a white crystalline solid with a melting point of 239 °C and a molecular weight of 230.3 g/mol. 3-Acetylbenzophenone has been shown to be genotoxic, as it can react with DNA to form covalent adducts. This compound also reacts with proteins in the body, leading to oxidative stress and inflammation. 3-Acetylbenzophenone has been shown to have an anti-inflammatory effect in vitro and in vivo models by inhibiting prostaglandin synthesis and reducing cytokine production.
