CAS:Prodotto controllatoMono(3-carboxypropyl) phthalate (MCPP) is a 5-ht2c receptor agonist that is used to study the effects of 5-ht2c receptors on locomotor activity. It has been shown to have an effect on dopamine levels in vivo and in vitro assays. MCPP also has the ability to alter body weight and adiposity, but it is not clear whether this effect is due to its pharmacological properties or because it is a metabolite of other drugs. MCPP may interact with drugs that affect 5-ht2c receptors, such as selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs). Symptoms associated with chronic exposure to MCPP include headache, nausea, vomiting, dizziness, depression, anxiety and hallucinations. Chronic exposure may also lead to seizures and coma.
