Descrizione:
Palladio è un metallo raro di colore bianco argenteo appartenente al gruppo del platino, caratterizzato dal suo alto punto di fusione, eccellente resistenza alla corrosione e proprietà catalitiche. Ha il numero atomico 46 ed è denotato dal simbolo "Pd". Palladio è noto per la sua capacità di assorbire idrogeno, rendendolo prezioso in varie applicazioni, tra cui stoccaggio e purificazione dell'idrogeno. È ampiamente utilizzato come catalizzatore nelle reazioni chimiche, in particolare nei convertitori catalitici automobilistici per ridurre le emissioni nocive. Inoltre, Palladio è utilizzato in elettronica, odontoiatria e gioielleria grazie al suo fascino estetico e alle sue proprietà ipoallergeniche. Il metallo è relativamente inerte, mostrando stabilità nell'aria e nell'acqua, ma può reagire con alogeni e alcuni acidi. Gli isotopi di Palladio sono principalmente stabili, con il più comune che è il Pd-102. Le sue proprietà uniche lo rendono un materiale essenziale nella tecnologia moderna e nei processi industriali.
