Rutenio è un metallo di transizione raro appartenente al gruppo del platino, caratterizzato dal suo aspetto bianco argenteo e alta densità. È indicato con il simbolo chimico Ru e ha un numero atomico di 44. Rutenio è noto per la sua notevole resistenza alla corrosione e all'ossidazione, rendendolo stabile in vari ambienti.
