L-Glucono-1,4-lactone

L-Glucono-1,4-lactone is a substance that belongs to the group of compounds known as alpha hydroxy acids. It is produced in the body by an enzyme called l-gluconolactonase and is present in small quantities in many fruits and vegetables. L-Glucono-1,4-lactone has been shown to prevent skin aging and protect against UV light damage through its antioxidant properties.
