CAS:6-Nitrochrysene is a carcinogenic aromatic hydrocarbon that is activated by cytochrome P450 enzymes. It binds to DNA duplexes and causes tumorigenesis in rats. 6-Nitrochrysene is metabolized by rat liver microsomes and induces the production of reactive oxygen species, which are generated during oxidative stress. This compound has been shown to induce the development of tumors in Sprague-Dawley rats after treatment with this chemical in vivo. 6-Nitrochrysene also induces tumor formation in vitro, as seen in experiments using MMCF7 cells.
