This agent has been shown to have potent antitumor activity in mice with cancer, inhibit cell growth in cultured cells, and cause necrotic cell death. RGB-286638 binds to the MCL-1 protein and inhibits the production of cytokines that are important for regulating immune responses, such as tumor necrosis factor (TNF). This agent also has a high affinity for actin filaments, which may be due to its ability to bind to myosin heavy chains.
