Copolimero di acido 3-idrossibutirrico-acido 3-idrossivalerico, comunemente noto come PHBV, è un polimero biodegradabile derivato dalla fermentazione di risorse rinnovabili. Questo copolimero è composto da due unità monomeriche: acido 3-idrossibutirrico (3HB) e acido 3-idrossivalerico (3HV). Il PHBV presenta una gamma di caratteristiche che lo rendono adatto a varie applicazioni, in particolare nei settori dell'imballaggio, dei dispositivi biomedici e delle pellicole agricole.
