4-[8-[2-(3-Pyridinyl)ethynyl]-1H-imidazo[4,5-c]quinolin-1-yl]benzeneacetonitrile (LSQA) is a sesquiterpene lactone that was originally isolated from the roots of Ligusticum scoticum. LSQA has been shown to have anticancer activity in vitro and in vivo against colorectal adenocarcinoma by inducing apoptosis through the mitochondrial membrane potential and by inhibiting the synthesis of DNA. The molecular docking analysis revealed hydrogen bonding interactions between LSQA and DNA polymerase β, which may be responsible for its inhibition of this enzyme.
