It inhibits viral infection by inhibiting the synthesis of viral genomes, which are made up of DNA or RNA. 5'-Azido-N6-Boc-5'-deoxy-2',3'-O-isopropylideneadenosine is a novel modified nucleoside analog that blocks the incorporation of ribonucleotides into viral DNA or RNA.
