It has been shown to inhibit spontaneous electrical activity in the pallidus and to cause a decrease in extracellular serotonin levels. CP-93129 dihydrochloride hydrate also causes an increase in serotonergic symptoms and functions, which is thought to be due to its blockade of 5-ht1b receptors. This drug is being investigated as a treatment for Parkinson's disease, schizophrenia, and depression.
