Descrizione:
Lattato deidrogenasi (LDH) è un enzima che gioca un ruolo cruciale nel processo metabolico di conversione del piruvato in lattato durante la respirazione anaerobica, così come nella reazione inversa in condizioni aerobiche. È un enzima tetramerica composta da quattro subunità, che possono essere combinazioni di due tipi di subunità, M (muscolo) e H (cuore), portando a diverse isoforme con proprietà cinetiche e distribuzioni tissutali variabili. La LDH è ampiamente distribuita in vari tessuti, inclusi cuore, fegato e muscolo scheletrico, ed è essenziale per mantenere l'equilibrio di NAD+/NADH nelle cellule. L'enzima è spesso utilizzato come biomarcatore nella diagnostica clinica, in particolare nella valutazione del danno tissutale o degli stati patologici, come l'infarto miocardico o le malattie epatiche, poiché livelli elevati di LDH possono indicare lesioni cellulari. La LDH opera in modo ottimale a pH e temperatura fisiologici, e la sua attività può essere influenzata da fattori come la concentrazione del substrato, il pH e la presenza di inibitori o attivatori.
