Descrizione:
Polistirene è un polimero idrocarburico aromatico sintetico realizzato a partire dal monomero stirene, caratterizzato dalla sua rigidità e versatilità. È un termoplastico incolore e trasparente che può essere solido o espanso, a seconda della sua formulazione. Polistirene presenta eccellenti proprietà isolanti, rendendolo ampiamente utilizzato in materiali da imballaggio, posate monouso e pannelli isolanti. La sua bassa densità e facilità di lavorazione contribuiscono alla sua popolarità in varie applicazioni, inclusi beni di consumo e costruzione. Il polimero è relativamente inerte, resistente all'umidità e ha una buona resistenza chimica, anche se può essere influenzato da solventi e alte temperature. Polistirene può essere prodotto in varie forme, tra cui Polistirene ad alto impatto (HIPS) e Polistirene espanso (EPS), ciascuno adattato per usi specifici.
