Propiolic acid has been shown to have antioxidant properties, which may be due to its ability to scavenge free radicals. 3-[(1-Methyl-1H-imidazol-2-yl)sulfanyl]propanoic acid is also an intermediate in the synthesis of propiolate, which is used as a precursor for acrylic acid. The reaction product of 3-[(1-methyl imidazol -2 - yl) sulfanyl ] propanoic acid and methyl propiolate yields tert butyl propiolate.</p>
