Imipenem-cilastatina è un antibiotico combinato utilizzato principalmente per il trattamento di gravi infezioni batteriche. L'imipenem è un antibiotico ad ampio spettro appartenente alla classe dei carbapenemi, efficace contro un'ampia gamma di batteri Gram-positivi e Gram-negativi, comprese molte ceppi resistenti. La cilastatina è un inibitore della deidropeptidasi renale che previene la degradazione dell'imipenem nei reni, migliorando così la sua efficacia e riducendo la nefrotossicità.
