4-Amino-2-chloropyrimidin-5-ol is a nonsteroidal drug that has affinity for the mineralocorticoid receptor. It has been shown to have high potency and selectivity in vivo, with an efficacy that is comparable to that of dexamethasone at high doses. 4-Amino-2-chloropyrimidin-5-ol has also been shown to be effective against other nuclear hormone receptors such as the glucocorticoid, progesterone, and thyroid hormone receptors. This drug may have therapeutic applications in the treatment of inflammatory diseases such as rheumatoid arthritis and asthma.
