CAS:Ethametsulfuron methyl sodium salt (EMS) is a herbicide that is used to control weeds in agricultural fields. It prevents the synthesis of fatty acids by blocking the activity of acetyl-CoA carboxylase, which is an enzyme involved in the production of fatty acids. EMS also inhibits plant enzymes that are involved in amino acid metabolism, such as protein synthesis. EMS has been shown to inhibit surface glycoprotein and human serum esterases.
