5,6-dichloro-3-nitropyridin-2-amine
CAS:5,6-Dichloro-3-nitropyridin-2-amine is a potent antiviral agent that is active against a broad spectrum of viruses. It has been shown to have selectivity for intracellular viruses, such as cytomegalovirus and herpes simplex virus type 1, and high cytotoxicity. 5,6-Dichloro-3-nitropyridin-2-amine interferes with the function of viral RNA by binding to the enzyme ribonucleotide reductase. This inhibits the synthesis of viral DNA and RNA, thereby inhibiting viral replication and transcription. The drug has also been shown to be encapsidated, making it resistant to degradation by serum enzymes and the proteolytic enzymes found in the gastrointestinal tract.
