Oxide of Gadolinium foil is used in the control rods of some nuclear reactors. It is used as nuclear control rod material. Neutron shielding, phosphor activator, catalyst, scavenger for oxygen in titanium production. A metal element that is used in magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and other imaging methods. It has been used in making gadolinium yttrium garnets, which have microwave applications. This Thermo Scientific Chemicals brand product was originally part of the Alfa Aesar product portfolio.
