Descrizione:The 6-Fluoro-3-indoxyl-beta-D-galactopyranoside is a powerful antituberculosis drug belonging to the rifamycin class. It is highly effective in treating tuberculosis infections. This active compound exhibits bactericidal activity by inhibiting bacterial growth through binding to DNA-dependent RNA polymerase, preventing transcription and replication. Its high frequency of human activity has been confirmed using a patch-clamp technique on human erythrocytes. Metabolically, it undergoes various transformations including hydrolysis by esterases or glucuronidases, oxidation by cytochrome P450 enzymes, reduction by glutathione reductase, or conjugation with glucuronic acid. Additionally, it specifically targets Mycobacterium tuberculosis strains and inhibits their cell growth in culture.
