Descrizione:The 6-Fluoro-3-indoxyl-beta-D-galactopyranoside is a powerful antituberculosis drug belonging to the class of rifamycins. It is specifically designed to combat tuberculosis infections by targeting the active compounds responsible for bacterial growth. This bactericidal activity is achieved by inhibiting DNA-dependent RNA polymerase, which hinders transcription and replication processes essential for bacterial survival. The effectiveness of this drug has been confirmed through extensive testing using advanced techniques such as patch-clamp on human erythrocytes. Additionally, its metabolic transformations include hydrolysis by esterases or glucuronidases, oxidation by cytochrome P450 enzymes, reduction by glutathione reductase, or conjugation with glucuronic acid.
