Descrizione:The 6-Fluoro-3-indoxyl-beta-D-galactopyranoside is an antituberculosis drug that falls under the class of rifamycins. It is known to be the most effective rifamycin in treating tuberculosis infections. This drug works by inhibiting bacterial growth through its binding to DNA-dependent RNA polymerase, preventing transcription and replication. Its high activity has been demonstrated using a patch-clamp technique on human erythrocytes. The active form of this drug undergoes various metabolic transformations, including hydrolysis, oxidation, reduction, or conjugation with glucuronic acid. Additionally, it specifically binds to markers expressed in Mycobacterium tuberculosis strains and inhibits cell growth in culture.
