Descrizione:The 6-Fluoro-3-indoxyl-beta-D-galactopyranoside is a powerful antituberculosis drug that falls under the class of rifamycins. It is specifically designed to combat tuberculosis infection by targeting active compounds and exhibiting bactericidal activity. This drug works by binding to DNA-dependent RNA polymerase, preventing transcription and replication, ultimately inhibiting bacterial growth. Extensive research has been conducted using the patch-clamp technique on human erythrocytes, demonstrating its high frequency of human activity. Furthermore, this drug undergoes various metabolic transformations such as hydrolysis by esterases or glucuronidases, oxidation by cytochrome P450 enzymes, reduction by glutathione reductase, or conjugation with glucuronic acid. Remarkably, it also binds to markers expressed at high levels in Mycobacterium tuberculosis strains and effectively inhibits cell growth in culture.
