Nihydrazone binds to the cell membrane of the parasite and prevents it from absorbing glucose or amino acids. This leads to cell death because the parasites are unable to produce ATP, which is needed for energy production. The drug can also be reconstituted with water, a diluent, as well as malic acid and other additives.
