Quinethazone inhibits angiotensin II, which causes vasoconstriction, increases blood pressure, and decreases sodium excretion. The drug is also an effective inhibitor of the cardiac enzyme carbonic anhydrase and has been shown to be useful in treating diabetic neuropathy.
