Prop-1-yne is a chemical compound with the molecular formula CH3CH=CH2. It has a basic structure and is a colorless liquid at room temperature. Prop-1-yne can be used to make polypropylene, which is an insoluble polymer that reacts with hydrogen fluoride in the presence of sodium carbonate to form propene. The reaction solution contains water vapor, and the product of the reaction is 1-propanol, which can be further converted into other products. Prop-1-yne also has transfer reactions that are catalyzed by metal ions and nucleophiles such as amines or alcohols. This chemical also has high values in fatty acid analysis.
