Phosphoric Acid Tris(4-methylphenyl) Ester (PATE) is an analytical reagent that is used to quantify p-hydroxybenzoic acid. It has been shown that PATE reacts with sodium citrate, copper chloride, and molecular docking analysis to form a reaction solution. The thermal expansion of the reaction solution has been shown to be affected by the mitochondrial membrane potential. PATE has been shown to have no toxicological effects in laboratory animals and does not react with polyvinyl or zirconium oxide. The synergistic effect of PATE with other chemicals has also been reported for locomotor activity.
